Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Chess Redrawn mobile game (the “App”) and chessredrawn.com (the “Website”), together the “Services”, provided by ObedientAmbition, Unipessoal LDA (“ObedientAmbition”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), operating as Lagosta Games. By using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1. Who we are

ObedientAmbition, Unipessoal LDA is a company registered in Portugal and based in Lisbon. You can contact us at stores@lagostaventures.com or +351 912 163 218.

2. Eligibility

You must be legally able to agree to these Terms. If you are a minor where you live, you may use the Services only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. The person responsible for the app-store account must approve any purchase.

3. Licence to use Chess Redrawn

Subject to these Terms and the applicable app-store rules, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable licence to install and use the App on devices you own or control for private, non-commercial entertainment. The App is licensed, not sold. No other rights are granted.

4. Acceptable use

You must not:

• use the Services unlawfully, fraudulently, to harm another person, or to interfere with their operation;
• bypass purchase checks, advertising controls, content locks, security measures or technical restrictions;
• copy, sell, rent, distribute or commercially exploit the Services or their content without our written permission;
• reverse-engineer, decompile or modify the Services except to the limited extent that applicable law expressly allows and cannot be excluded; or
• use automated tools to overload, scrape or probe the Website or any purchase-verification service.

5. Gameplay

Chess Redrawn is a single-player chess game with computer opponents, puzzles, daily content and rule variants. Computer moves, difficulty ratings, puzzle results and progression outcomes are generated by software and may not always match human play or third-party chess ratings. The Services do not offer gambling, cash prizes or items redeemable for money.

6. Advertising

The free version may show interstitial and rewarded advertisements supplied by third parties. Rewarded ads are optional; the reward shown in the App is granted after the advertising service reports a completed eligible view. Advertising availability, frequency and content can vary by device, region, age treatment, consent choice and network conditions. An optional purchase may remove the advertisements controlled by Chess Redrawn, but it cannot remove content outside the App.

7. Purchases, Coins and unlocks

The App may offer optional purchases such as ad removal, an unlock-everything entitlement and packs of virtual Coins. Prices and any applicable taxes are shown by Apple’s App Store or Google Play before you confirm a purchase. Payments, cancellations and refunds are handled by the store and are also subject to its terms. Nothing in these Terms limits a refund or cancellation right that applicable consumer law gives you.

• Non-consumable entitlements, such as ad removal or unlock everything, may be restored on a compatible version of the App using the same app-store account, where the store supports restoration.
• Coins are consumable virtual items. They are licensed, not sold; have no real-world monetary value; cannot be traded, transferred between users, exchanged for cash or used outside Chess Redrawn; and are generally not restorable after consumption.
• Game progress and the Coin balance are stored locally, not in a Chess Redrawn cloud account. Removing the App, clearing its data, changing platforms or losing the device may permanently remove local Coins, progression and settings.
• A purchase must pass store verification before we deliver its Coins or entitlement. We may refuse or reverse delivery where a transaction is invalid, refunded, charged back, duplicated or used fraudulently.

8. Ownership

The Services and their software, chess presentation, artwork, audio, text, branding and other content are owned by ObedientAmbition or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. “Chess Redrawn”, “Lagosta Games” and related names and logos are our brands. These Terms do not transfer ownership to you.

The underlying rules of chess and factual game positions are not claimed as our exclusive property. Third-party components remain subject to their own licences and notices.

9. Feedback and support

If you send suggestions or feedback, you give us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free right to use them to operate and improve our products without an obligation to compensate you. You remain responsible for anything you submit and must not send unlawful content or confidential information you do not have the right to share.

10. Third-party services and links

The Services interact with Apple, Google, advertising providers, website hosting and purchase-verification infrastructure, and may link to third-party pages. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control third-party content, availability or decisions. The Privacy Policy explains the main providers and data flows.

11. Updates and availability

We may fix, update, balance, add or remove features, modes, content, prices, rewards or technical requirements. We may also suspend or discontinue some or all of the Services where reasonably necessary. Updates may be required for continued use. We will take reasonable steps to avoid unfairly depriving consumers of paid entitlements and will respect rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

12. No promise of uninterrupted service

To the extent permitted by law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise that they will always be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every device, or that every computer move, notification, advertisement, purchase or link will be available at all times. This section does not exclude warranties or remedies that mandatory consumer law requires.

13. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded, including liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or mandatory consumer rights. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, loss of data, or loss caused by events outside our reasonable control. For any other claim, our aggregate liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the App and in-App purchases during the 12 months before the claim or €25, to the extent this limitation is lawful where you live.

14. Suspension and termination

You may stop using and remove the App at any time. We may suspend access to online-dependent features or terminate this licence if you materially breach these Terms, after notice where appropriate. Provisions that by their nature should continue—including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits and governing law—survive termination.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Services, providers or law. We will publish the revised Terms here and update the date above. Material changes may also be communicated in the App or through an app store. Changes apply from the stated effective date; if you do not agree, you should stop using the Services.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Portuguese law. The courts of Lisbon, Portugal have jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer you retain any mandatory protections and right to bring proceedings available under the law of the country where you habitually live. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue.

17. General

If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect and the affected provision will apply to the greatest lawful extent. A delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent; we may transfer ours as part of a reorganisation or transfer of the Services, subject to applicable law. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement about the Services, except for applicable app-store terms.
